Joe Miller named Coastal Plains League Pitcher of the Year

PHILADELPHIA CREAM – University of Pennsylvania left-hander Joe miller was named the 2021 Coastal Plains League (CPL) Pitcher of the Year last week. Miller spent his summer on the bump for the Bananas from the savannah, which recently won the 2021 CPL Championship.

In his first season with the Bananas, Miller was 6-0 with a save in 42 innings of work. He’s struck out 71 batters in 10 appearances (including nine starts) and amassed a stellar 1.50 ERA.

Miller led CPL in strikeouts and placed second in the ERA. He recorded a WHIP of 1.020 to go along with the opponent’s batting average of 0.162 during the season.

With the season on the line in Game 2 of the Western Divisional Championship series, Miller stepped over the mound in a game to win and struck out 11 batters in 6 2/3 innings to help the Bananas to an 8-2 win over the HP-Thomasville HiToms. The Bananas ultimately won the series in Game 3 and won the 2021 CPL Petitt Cup Championship against the Morehead City Marlins.

Miller also took home All-CPL first-team honors thanks to his impressive campaign this summer.
